The importance of colour coding in commercial cleaning
The use of a structured colour coding system is essential when cleaning premises. Whether the premises is a doctors surgery, dental surgery, office or factory, colour coding is of equal importance.
Colour coding is a system of using a certain colour of cloth, mop and bucket in a particular area of cleaning. The set colours will only be used in those areas, to prevent cross contamination. For example, a red mop and bucket would be used on the floors of high risk areas such as toilets, and would then not be used on lower risks, such as kitchen floors.
Blue is used for general lower risk areas, yellow is used for clinical areas and green for general food and bar use. White is available for bespoke or site specific cleaning but is rarely used.
Is your current cleaning provider complying with these requirements? In the last week we have been asked to take on a cleaning contract at a restaurant where their old contractors were sharing a bucket for the toilets and restaurant floor, and also quoted at a doctors surgery where there was no yellow (clinical) colour coding in place, which is a requirement of the Care and Quality Commission (CQC). Is your current cleaning provider complying with this process?
At Green Fox we are members of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICS) who offer colour coding guidance that should be adhered to, and we are also delighted to be THE selected educational cleaning company of choice in Hampshire and West Sussex for Education First services.
We would be delighted to provide a no obligation quote at a time convenient to you.
